Solar power is one of the popular types of alternate electricity source to be installed at homes. It is a highly reliable and sustainable power resource that can effectively run any and every device in your home.

Installing rooftop solar plants under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSB) offers significant financial, environmental, and practical benefits for Indian households.
Direct Financial Subsidies
The scheme provides substantial Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to reduce the initial cost of installation. These subsidies are transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT):
For 1 kW systems: ₹30,000.
For 2 kW systems: ₹60,000.
For 3 kW and above: Fixed maximum subsidy of ₹78,000.
Free Electricity and Bill Reduction
Monthly Savings: Households can receive up to 300 units of free electricity every month.
Annual Savings: An average 3 kW system can save a household approximately ₹15,000 to ₹18,000 annually on electricity expenses.
Grid Independence: Solar generation reduces reliance on traditional power grids and protects against future electricity price hikes.
Income Generation through Net Metering
Sell Surplus Power: Under net metering, any excess electricity generated is fed back into the grid, for which the utility provides credits to the homeowner.
Prosumer Status: This allows consumers to become "prosumers"—both consumers and producers of energy.
Easy Financing Options
Low-Interest Loans: Homeowners can access collateral-free loans at highly competitive interest rates (currently around 7%) for systems up to 3 kW.
Quick ROI: The initial investment is typically recovered within 3 to 5 years, after which the electricity is essentially free for the remaining 20+ years of the panel's lifespan.
Environmental and Social Impact
Carbon Reduction: Every installation is estimated to offset carbon emissions equivalent to planting 100 trees.
Increased Property Value: Homes equipped with solar systems are often seen as modern and cost efficient, potentially increasing their resale value.
Job Creation: The scheme is projected to create approximately 1,00,000 green jobs for solar technicians in manufacturing and maintenance.
Benefits for Housing Societies
Group Housing Societies (GHS) and Residential Welfare Associations (RWA) are eligible for a subsidy of ₹18,000 per kW for common area installations (up to 500 kW capacity), which can power shared facilities like elevators, lights, and EV charging stations.

He was the Business/Divisional Head (Vice President) of North Division in the city of Mumbai western Suburbs in Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd till March 2021.He has nearly four decades of rich and varied experience in Power Sector including Low voltage & High voltage distribution networks, Receiving Stations & Substations, Power & Distribution Transformers, Switch Gears, APFC panels, HT & LT Cables, LT panels, Capacitors, Street Lighting and business functions such as Marketing & customers acquisitions, Meter installation to Billing, Recovery and Rooftop Solar PV installations.

He has a long experience of more than 15 years in the Commercial section of erstwhile Reliance Energy and the present Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. until September 2024. With nearly three decades of rich and varied experience, he has developed expertise in liaisoning with various stakeholders, including BMC/MBMC officials, licensed electrical contractors, architects, local opinion leaders and political leaders in the city of Mumbai.

Project Manager
Vivek Sathe is a veteran in Rooftop solar domain . He was the Proprietor of SAM solar Solutions which he had established in the year 2015. Presently he’s associated with JKSS Mumbai Power Tech services LLP as the Project Manager and oversees the supervision & overall management of project site operations . He had received extensive training in Rooftop solar plants from Vaikunthbhai Mehta Institute from Pune in the year 2015 .
